Have I mentioned how much I love living on the lake? I do. And you know whats funny? I have been a city girl for half of my life and wouldn’t trade this lake life for anything in the world. I actually “grew” up on the lake me and Matt live on now. My maw maw lived on the lake when I was younger just right across the river from where we live now. We use to go down there every weekend. I loved it. We would ride in the boat, ski, fish, swim and make the best homemade ice cream. Maybe that’s why I love living here so much? I have nothing but great memories on this beautiful lake. Its also kind of ironic. Me and Matt were just a slue apart when we were younger, probably passed by each others boat a few times and even been in Beeswax at the same time to get their delicious boiled peanuts.
As the kids get older, lake life seems to get better and more enjoyable. I have always loved it but sharing life on the lake with them is just special. They love it!
I can honestly say that I don’t know what I did before. We are always going and going. Theres just always something to do and I love having the babies outside. We go fishing in the boat, on a boat ride, fishing in the backyard, swim in the lake or just sit outside play and enjoy the view!
Usually on paydays we will ask the kids what they want to do. I know, funny since they are only 2 and 3 but they tell us! We would take them anywhere too. The zoo, Georgia aquarium, or even Chattanooga if they told us too but they usually reply with things around here like “Let’s go pishing” “Ride the tractor” “ride in daddy boat”. I think it is so funny. If they only knew their daddy would literally take them anywhere to do anything. I wonder if their response would still be things around here. Fishing, riding the tractor and in Matt’s boat is their favorites.
Our local high school isn’t a very big one but this small town is growing bigger and bigger. I don’t want it to grow too big but would like to see the high school get bigger and better. The high school started a fishing team two years ago! How awesome is that? I know JP will want to be on that when he gets bigger. I love that you can now get a scholarship from colleges for fishing now. Its not the easiest sport in the world and it doesn’t get a lot of recognition. Maybe this will help these young boys and girls do something they really love to do. I know mine will be on it, if that’s what they want of course. That is all I want for them. I want them to do what they love and love what they do.
I hope raising them in a small town does them some good and they grow up with hobbies like hunting and fishing. I think those hobbies are good compared to the hobbies all of my friends had when I was in high school. I know there are bad things and bad people everywhere, I just hope and pray my babies choose the right path. I pray that God shows them the way and they do great things with their life.
Lake life does have some cons. Mosquito’s are awful during the summer time, you get bugs in your house you have never seen before plus the occasional mouse (because of all the fields), Oh wait. That’s it! So theres not many cons. I picture Me and Matt when we get older on the back porch, sipping our drinks, rocking on the rocking chairs and enjoying the beautiful sunset view. Just like my maw maw and paw paw always did. There are many places I would love to live but all of them involve Lake Life. Never will I not live on a lake again, It has spoiled me all too much.
We stayed out on the water all weekend this past one. Saturday, we went in our friends center console big boat and set some jugs out up river! We caught a few cat fish but everything seemed to go wrong that day. Matt broke the troller motor, Steve broke the casting net, we got stuck in a storm, and our motor got tangled up with our line. All you can do is laugh, right? We had a blast and the babies love Steve, April and their boy , Lane. Sunday, we stayed out from 12-4 I think. It was a good while for babies. I get worried about that sun and it being so hot but there was a nice steady breeze on Sunday. We always dip them in every 15 minutes or so too. I make them stay hydrated because like I said, the heat scares me. Especially now with my lupus too. It affects me bad but I manage it for my kids and to see these sweet smiles…
You know whats one heck of pro about living on the lake? When you stay on the lake all day long, your child will sleep at least 14 hours! Check out Maddie’s bed head from Monday morning!
