Our 4th of July Weekend

First of all, Happy Birthday ‘Merica!!

We’ve had a wonderful weekend! A long weekend but it was wonderful. Matt ended up being off work on Friday, which usually never happens, so we were able to celebrate the 4th as a family! We started the day out on the lake! We live on Lay Lake in Alabama and I absolutely love it! We rode around on the pontoon for a while and then stopped by Matt’s Uncle Terri’s house. They were having a big bar-b-Que and had a swimming pool. We all had a blast!

Madelynn usually isn’t crazy about interacting with anyone while riding on the boat. She will usually just lay there and go to sleep but she wanted to help daddy drive this day!

Every time I tell JP to “cheese” he makes this face. That little boy is such a clown;)

Uncle Terri had one of those out of ground pools and it was the perfect size for my little shorties. Jocelynn got right in it and discovered that she could touch her feet to the bottom. She thought that was the coolest thing ever. She stayed in there the whole time we were there. Just jumping up and down and having a bawl.

I can’t even explain to you how much fun Maddie had. This girl has fun anywhere she goes and even if its not the funnest thing ever, she still makes a party out of any situation. I would definitely say this one is mine;)

Bring out the water guns!! The water guns were fun for everyone! The twins kept squirting everyone and thought it was hilarious.
Then, I noticed Maddie had stolen someones coke. And yes, I took a picture before taking it away because it was so funny. She had already had half of it so why not let her have the rest at that point, right? Call me a bad mom if you may but these days its just hard to keep up with what everyone is doing and a coke never hurt anyone every now and then.

We took all the kiddos home around 2 to get a quick nap before getting back out on the boat to go watch fireworks. We laid them all down and not one of them put up a fight. Me and Matt cooked some ribs while they napped and I might have eaten five of them. They were delicious.
We had to wake all of the kids up around 4:30. They weren’t thrilled about it but we got them dressed, went by the store, and loaded everything in the boat. We went back to Uncle Terri’s until sunset then headed towards Cedar Creek to watch the firework show. We had so much fun. Good friends, great food and a beautiful view. I’m glad I was able to get some candid shots of our night.

It is not until you have children that you can really appreciate all the little things. Like fireworks? I have never been that crazy about them but watching their little faces light up about it was amazing. They make me see the world in a whole new way and I love it. They are showing me things I never knew how to appreciate.

I might have indulged in one or two glasses of wine but we all had a blast and I’m glad we let the kids stay up past their bedtime that day. They wouldn’t have been able to see any of it with a 7:30 bedtime. Its ok to get off schedule every now and then. Except we did pay for that Saturday, they were incredibly fussy. But I am glad they got to witness fireworks and show me just how beautiful they really are too.
I hope all of you had a wonderful 4TH of JULY!!!!!!
