Last week I thought it would be a good idea to try and potty train the twins. I was wrong. Very wrong.
I thought they were ready. I know they are getting ready but they just aren’t there yet. They scream after they have gone number 2 and lay down for me to change their diaper. I thought this was a sign, so why not try? Well, Monday came and we began the process. I made a potty training magnet chart for them from an oil drip pan, I had “potty treats” for them and the potties out. I did the whole “naked way to go”. Got them undressed and let them stay naked the entire day. We had an accident with Jocelynn and another one with JP. They would not use the potty.AT.ALL. I didn’t pressure them to use it or anything. I showed them how cool their chart was and they seemed so interested. I knew JP needed to go because he was screaming at me “diaper on, diaper on”. I decided to put a pull-up on them for their nap and as soon as I did that they both peed it full.
I know 50% of the people say not to do that but I was just ready to throw my hands up after all the screaming. I did just that. Maybe I should’ve kept trying. I don’t know. I do know that entertaining three babies is hard enough and trying to potty train two and entertain the other is even harder. I don’t want them to hate the potty and I don’t want them to be mad at me for making them go. I want them to be completely ready to do it. They just turned two a couple of months ago so I consider the fact that we tried as being a head of the game. I will tell you this; Jocelynn could do it. I need to do her first. By herself and give her that one on one attention. I can praise her with treats and by applauding her. When JP sees that I am sure he will want to go then. My mom is coming into town next week and I might do it then so she can occupy JP and Maddie while I work with Jocelynn.
I know me and Matt are much more ready than they are, seeing as how expensive diapers are. Especially having three in diapers. It gets very steep and I will be so excited when we get to start keeping that money. I will show y’all the potty chart in a different post. I just wanted to let you all know how it went and the fact that it really didn’t go well. Just wanted to be honest because it was pure hell. Hoping that the next time we try it will go much smoother and have excitement and actual use of the potty! hah!
Do you have any potty training night mares you want to share? Any advice on potty training twins?
